Barcelona Marathon

______EM PORTUGUÊS____

A temperatura estava perfeita: 17 graus celcius e sol.

________IN ENGLISH_______

I have a special affection for Barcelona.

It was here that, at the age of 15, I travelled alone for the first time in order to participate in the Laser Radial World Championship in 2001.

Besides that, when I lived in Madrid, 10 years ago, I came here every time I wanted to see the sea.

Last year I thought about maybe joining Bas and running this marathon too.

At that time we thought it would be my first marathon, but it turned out to be the second one since last month we also ran Tamarathon - which I have already wrote about, by the way.

Yes, it's crazy to run 2 marathons in 1 month: I know! "Do not run more than 2 a year," they say - and they're probably right. But the truth is that we like, have fun and couldn't resist! - And there's 2 more this year, but it's a secret, okay ?!

Anyway, this race was completely different from Tamarathon. Not better or worst: different!

Running with audience is a sensational experience: children reaching out for hi-fives, adults shouting motivational quotes and your name, plus the drums or music on key parts of the course help us to keep the mind positive , forget the pain a little and remember why we actually started.

The temperature was perfect: 17 degrees celcius and sun.

There were also lots of hydration points and I even went straight for some.

Until the KM 36, I ran nice. From then on did hurt. A lot.

As an overview, we (Bas and I) ran 30Km in 2h56min - which is an average speed faster than 10Km/h. However, we finished the race in 4h15min - which means that the speed dropped at the end and the total of the race average speed was exactly 10Km/ h.

Including, by the way, two pipi stops during which the timer didn't stop...

Anyway, I think that from now on I am officially a marathoner:

A lot of people run one just to see what it is about. When you run the second one, however, it's because you liked it and there is probably no way back ... !!!

________IN NEDERLANDS____

Veel.

(met 2 plassen stopen zonder de timer stopen, by the way!)
